Last Wednesday 28th November was inaugurated, in Logroño (SPAIN), by the president of the Youth Institute of La Rioja, the first meeting of EPAEMSI (European Partnership on Adult Education and Mobility for Social Inclusion). A project co-funded by the European Commission through the Lifelong Learning Programme, which  aims at using the experience of the 7 partner organisations on social inclusion and the active participation of adult learners from disadvantaged social groups in order to promote and improve social inclusion through education, in particular non-formal and informal education.

Throughout this first meeting, partner organisations were able to meet face-to-face and learn more about each other’s organisations while setting up the foundations of the work which will take place during the next two years. Also, as host of the meeting, the coordinator of the project, the Neighbourhood Association of La Rioja (Federación de Vecinos de La Rioja), presented in depth their activities in the field of social inclusion through education, describing some of its best practices. They then proceeded to let participants experience those best practices by taking part in a series of activities and interacting with the local adult learners.

In order to continue with the work of the project before the next meeting in Malta, a series of activities will take place at local level with trainers/teachers and adult learners from each organisation reflecting on the best practices presented in Logroño.
